Elysian Gardens began as a concept many years ago. We wished to create a community indoor hydroponic facility meant to engage consumers with the network of food production and expand their abilities to take food sustainability into their own hands. We had the intention of producing many varieties of fruits and vegetables, many never before attempted in the growing commercial hydroponic industry, to experiment and research the vast possibilities of hydroponic production for the purpose of increased food security, greater nutritional value, and lesser environmental impact. This is still very much our dream today, and at this very moment our team is developing the concept with eyes forever on the horizon.
Our road to that vision has taken the form of integrative landscaping. We are passionate about informative design and curating outdoor spaces to have less environmental impact and more possibilities for engagement. That may include drought tolerant natural grasses, an integrative garden, a covered outdoor dining area, and a custom steel firepit around which your whole family can gather. Or it may simply include a comfortable, low-maintenance lawn and beautiful perineal beds that your kids can enjoy. Our role is to help bring your wildest landscaping dreams to fruition. WHO IS MONTANA LANDSCAPE CURBING?
Montana Landscape Curbing began in Belgrade, Montana in 2008 under the ownership of Brent Atkinson. Brent was already experienced in landscape installation at the time, and thereafter spent years studying the craft of curbing, taking trades classes and learning from his peers in the valley. Over the course of a decade, he became the most dependable and well-respected provider of landscape curbing, and in all that time never parted himself from the process. He developed a landscaping style of his very own, combining the lasting elements of concrete curbing with more traditional landscape elements, and to this day holds a reputation for authenticity, uniqueness, and compassion for others. Brent has been a great friend and mentor to Elysian Gardens and continues to produce high quality landscapes in the Gallatin Valley.
WHAT IS ELYSIAN?
The origins of our namesake are known to few, and the correct pronunciation is known to even fewer. A quick search of the definition will tell you that Elysian is an adjective “relating to or characteristic of heaven or paradise.” It is pronounced Eh-lee-shin in American English and Eh-lis-ian in British English. The word comes from the Greek myth of Elysium, a transcendental plane reserved for the heroic and righteous in the afterlife. Elysium, or the Elysian Fields, were characterized by delicate meadows, sprawling orchards, trickling springs, and lush green fields. It was a place conducive of great joy to be experienced for eternity.
Though we may not get to enjoy the scenery around us for an eternity, it is our hope at Elysian Gardens to produce landscapes of the utmost caliber, to meld greenscapes and hardscapes into functionally aesthetic paradises meant to bring joy and liveliness.
